Wow. I can’t believe we’ve already have the ‘lil Murphykins for a whole month! Time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve also been exhausted, stressed, emotional, and confused but it’s still been mostly fun. We love our puppy boy to the moon and back. He has the sweetest disposition and there’s still an innocence about him that makes even his obnoxious behaviors endearing. Don’t worry, we still correct him..even though it’s hard. After just a month I couldn’t imagine not having him in our lives, although, it still sometimes catches me off guard when he walks into the room that oh man, he’s mine. This is my dog. That still hasn’t fully sunken in.
This past week Murphy was a man about town..going here, going there. There was a puppy play date at a friend’s house where he got to meet his 4 best friends- Mila, Alphie, Chica, and Reese’s. Unfortunately, none of them would stay still long enough for a decent picture.
Then Murphy joined us at a Labor Day/wood splitting BBQ. He could be found sleeping on my lap most of the day, what a party pooper.
And last but not least, he took a few trips to my parent’s house and was introduced to the cat’s. That went well..
It wasn’t all bad though..cuz he loves him some grandma time.
But yea, I’m still in disbelief that in only a month’s time this little love of mine went from this
to this.
He’s growing up WAY to friggin fast…as everyone in life always seems to do.

awkward, just awkward
When you see the word awkward in a blog post it's more often than not paired with the word awesome. But no, you won't find that here. It's allllll about the awkward. I'm not saying there's nothing awesome going on in my life right now (believe me, there is) but the awkward is just more interesting and well, amusing.
Here ya go, a big giant dose of pure awkwardness..
Running into the son of the man who robbed your house. This situation didn’t happen to me (thankfully I’ve never had to endure a burglary) but it did happen to my father in law. AND he had the guts to bring up this uber awkward situation- go Roy! It could’ve gotten a lot more awkward at that point but the guy just said yea, my dad’s a D-bag and is in jail somewhere to which my father in law said GOOD! I love my father in law, he’s got some cojones.
Having a nasty little mosquito bite on your upper, inner thigh that continually itches. Thank you mosquito for making me look like I’m always scratching my crotch.
Bringing your big giant umbrella and wearing your rain boots into work because it’s pouring and having the sun come out about a half hour after arriving. I’m currently dreading dragging all of that stuff out later…
Someone trying to hold a conversation from the next stall over in the bathroom. ‘Nuff said.
Saying “Fuck Yeah!!!” really loudly while exiting Michaels because I realized I had just gotten a 50% off coupon as a mother and her young daughter were walking in.
Earlier I heard someone from across the office say to someone else “I’m gonna smack you so hard you’ll like it”, obviously joking around. There was nothing awkward about that. The awkward part was that I laughed so loud but no one else on my side of the office knew why because they didn’t hear that hilarious comment being made. Then I had to go ahead and explain why I was laughing..no one found it as funny as I did. Damn this bionic hearing of mine.
Tripping..over everything. Stairs, carpets, my own two feet. These bad boys can't be trusted anymore.
Having your dog decide that now would be a good time to take a #2 as soon as you stop to say hi to a familiar face on your morning walk. It happens every morning and all that can be done at that point is laugh awkwardly and explain that your dog has no manners.

weekly wednesday weigh in
I didn’t weigh in this morning. There were just an overwhelmingly large number of contributing factors that led to the scale not being touched. The two largest factors included being way too hot to leave my spot in front of the fan and a very needy puppy who wanted nothing more than to play or cuddle, how could I say no?
So instead, I think I’m going to weigh in on how I feel instead. And how do I feel? Not as good as I thought I would after a week that I was supposedly going to count points diligently. But of course, we all know that didn’t happen. I got way too caught up in Taco Bell runs and BBQ food.
When the time for grocery shopping came around I totally wanted to kick my healthy food intake into high gear. Unfortunately, after feeling very uninspired and disinterested in food I seemed to always come back to the one thing I truly have a love/hate relationship with- carbs. Potatoes, pasta, rice, bread…all of it, I don’t discriminate. They’re just so quick to make, go with anything, and make everything taste SO much better. That sounds marvelous and all but they don’t really get along so well with my waistline. That’s where the hate part of this relationship comes in.
I’m obviously regretting my decision to cook a week filled with sandwiches, lasagna, a flour tortilla fueled Mexican night, and waffles (they’re healthy, I swear!) but the money has been spent and the food has been bought so I have to tread carefully and get through it. Portion control, it’s alllllllllllll gotta be about portion control. I’m pretty sure I’ll get through it in one piece but I better start getting inspired now for next week’s (not so carb filled) meals so I don’t have to go through this all over again.

back to school work
It was only a 3 day weekend but for some odd reason it feels like I haven’t stepped foot in this office in quite some time, way longer than 3 days. Maybe it’s that whole after labor day, back to school feeling I still get even though I haven’t had a back to school experience in about 6 years or so. Odd..
Our days this past weekend we’re spent doing nothing in particular..mainly relaxing and spending time with friends, or by ourselves (which is always much needed). The weekend’s main event was a wood splitting party on Sunday where the men well, split wood while us ladies sat back and watched. Let me tell you though..it was hard work trying out all those different beers in the cooler. The pomegranate raspberry one was my favorite. Too bad it’s probably going to be impossible to find until next summer. Damn seasonal beers.
My big craft weekend plans also had to be extended into a craft week (or 2). Little projects that seem like they’ll take no time always, alwayyysss take at least double the amount of time you think they will. And those big projects? Better quadruple that time budget. It didn’t help that on Saturday (the day most of the stuff was supposed to get done) I found out that the fabric paint liked to dry on the foam I picked up for my bicycle stamp within seconds so no stamping got done. I also may or may not have gotten caught up in sobbing like a baby every 5 minutes or so while watching P.S I love you. Don’t judge me… {Note to self- sappy love movies are a no bueno while crafting. Always stick with horror, it’s never steered you wrong before.} Between failing and crying I did manage to make the bow for my belt, cut out the bicycle stamp, test it, cut the fabric for the skirt, and test the paint on my shoes. Not too shabby.
The conclusion to our weekend was probably my favorite. It consisted of all of us (hubby, the pup, and I) curled up in bed, watching Jeff Dunham (hilarious!!!), discussing all of our plans for the next few months. We have something fun to look forward to just about every weekend until November. I live for a packed schedule. Especially when it’s filled with fall festivals, parties, concerts, trips, and all things Halloween.

craft prep
Judging by the looks of all this stuff there’s about to be some major crafting going down this weekend!!
I finally told myself to put up or shut up (yea, I yell at myself sometimes) and make some of the pretty things on my to-do: diy edition list. I ventured out to Michael’s yesterday and after wandering the aisles for about an hour I came up with all of the left over supplies that were needed. The employee’s probably thought I was crazy because I walked up and down the paint aisle about 20 times before realizing that the fabric paint I needed was on the opposite side of the store. I also managed to not buy any of the items from the super adorable fall/Halloween collection so I’ll give myself a pat on the back for that. I can’t promise I won’t drag hubby back there for a few things though. I need something new to ring in my favorite time of the year.
Anywho, I only have a rough (and I stress rough) idea of how to make these projects happen so…wish me luck. The project agenda consists of:
- a bicycle print skirt inspired from this cute as sin DIY
- a suede bow belt just like this one (also seen paired with the last DIY, obviously this outfit was way too cute to not copy)
- black and white striped ballet flats (because 3 pairs of plain black flats were just too much..one needed sprucing up)
That’s all I’m doing for now but don’t get your hopes up. I’m not making any promises that all 3 will get finished and not because I’m lazy or busy. I’m just anticipating some sort of disaster going down in my living room. Optimism- not one of my strong suits.

murphy update: week 3, murphy needs
Everything's going pretty well on the Murphy front and not much is new. Some adjusting needed to be done to his walking schedule but once that was happened he magically discovered that the world is his potty..even my neighbor's front lawn. Awesome.
Besides that he's hopefully *crosses fingers* going to be vaccinated this weekend and why does this make me excited, you say? Well, this means he can finally be around other dogs. I'm already setting up a massive play date that will include all of the new best friends he didn't even know he has (aka- all of my friends dogs).
Anyway, onto the matter at hand... the weather is quickly cooling down and fall will soon be here. Since Murphy is lacking a sturdy winter coat one will need to be provided for him. This obviously makes me verryyyy happy being that I'm a lover of all things shopping. Here are some of the cold weather gear that I believe my puppy boy must have-

There's also going to be a winter parka and a Patriot's jersey (courtesy of daddy) coming his way. It's very likely that Murphy will end up with a more extensive wardrobe than I do. Oh well.

weekly wednesday weigh in
Do you know what happens when I’m doing well for a few weeks and everything’s awesome in the weight loss department? I start getting a little too lenient, taking my past successes for granted. And that’s precisely what I did this week. Even with my half hour a day walks and endless playing with the Murph-meister paired my (slightly less severe) stress related lack of food I still managed to gain a pound back.
But man, did I deserve it!
Saturday night was the worst. We went out to celebrate birthday’s for these two crazy kids.
And what do I do when I’m on the deck of a restaurant with the Long Island Sound underneath my feet and boats are docked as far as the eye can see? Order a heaping mound of fried sea food, duh. I mean really, what do you want me to do when there’s a giant bottle of tartar sauce on the table? My menu choices included fried calamari (to which I said screw the marinara for dipping when there’s tartar to be had), cheese fries, and onion rings…all to share of course because well, I’m a lady. You would think I would have ordered a side salad as my main course after all that madness but nope. A fried clam strip sandwich, with more fries, was what I went with. It was all so wonderfully delicious but when I was about half way through my sandwich I hit a food wall and thought I really may die if I took another bite {note to self- appetizers are not necessary at Jeremy’s Ale House}.
Since we all felt like Fatty McFat’s when we left we thought it’d be best to walk the Nautical Mile to you know, help digest our food (or make us feel less guilty about the damage that we just inflicted on our arteries- whichever you prefer) but of course we came across Pip’s and just had to stop in for ice cream. My stomach still hasn’t forgiven me..
A second runner up to Saturday night’s weight loss suicide mission was Friday night when we went to check out a new cupcakery and I happily polished off a chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake that was rather large (aka I could barely fit it in my mouth). Everyone else said they were too sweet and too big. I didn’t see the problem.
Sooo, yea. After recapping this past weekend I think I’m going to take my 1 lb. gain and not complain about it at all. I’m lucky it was just a pound.
P.s- I’m starting to count points again as of like, right now. I’d still like to keep the 4 lb.’s I have lost off, pleaseandthankyou.
